Gin

I know we harp on about the Johannesburg Thunderstorm being the inspiration for this gin a lot, but when we were in product development with this product, we asked a host of ex-Johannesburg residents what they remembered about their time in Jozi. All of them mentioned the way the air smells directly before and after the thunderstorm. So this was our guiding inspiration for Cloudburst. Hopefully you find those same, unique notes in our gin and agree with us, that's it's a great embodiment of Johannesburg.

Cloudburst is filled with earthy, woody notes, much like the way the air smells just before the iconic Johannesburg thunderstorm it gets its name from. The way the air smells is a phenomenon called Petrichor and it's what we've tried to bottle in Cloudburst. The woodier, earthier nature of the gin settles the sweetness of a gin and tonic beautifully and makes it more of a savory drink than a sweet one. It also delivers clearly earthy and woody notes when shaken into a dry martini. It pairs well with fragrant Thai and Korean dishes that feature punchy flavours and also gains a lot from being served with middle-Eastern foods and small plates from Turkey, Israel and surrounds.
