The grapes used for the Amethyst derives from dry land bush vines from the Swartland. This wine is a true reflection of the Swartland terroir. The Swartland is pre-dominantly a dry land bush vine area with low yields and high concentration of fruit flavours.
Winemaker, Andries Blake is a seasoned Swartland winemaker. His love for the terroir dates back to his first vintage in 1996. His knowledge and experience of the Swartland terroir enabled him to select the best vines for the Amethyst.
Intense dark red with ruby red rim. The dark colour and concentration is typical of the Swartland. Initial abundance of black fruit which leads to a juicy middle with soft tannins and ends in a lingering after taste.
This well-structured wine will be the perfect match with red meat, game, stew or lamb shank.
